AC Shadows Introduces Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual predictions, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Uncovered
According to the authorized statement, "A strange encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret sect.
The mission focuses on "strange tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Material
Players who finish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
