Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the region, bringing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units deployed to address the widespread outages.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

• The Werribee area - saw considerable storm damage
• Hoppers Crossing - various emergency calls
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance

At one point on the previous day, more than 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tuesday was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
