From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
