Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
